Conflict Solutions: Sudan

The challenge:
Millions of people throughout The Sudan have been slaughtered and violence has left that nation in an unspeakably tragic situation. While the root causes of this violence date back generations, the most recent escalation of violence has produced human suffering on par with the worst mankind has ever seen.

Our role:
Working with members of the Sudanese Diaspora, in particular the Sudanese expatriate community in the USA, Outreach Strategists partner Randall Butler has designed and conducted numerous workshops aimed at providing future leaders the tools they will need to help stabilize their country.

Participants in the workshops come from all regions of Sudan to bridge their tribal, ethnic, and religious divisions. They work together to envision a future of sustainable peace and plan initiatives to improve life for all people afflicted by the crisis, both in Sudan and the Diaspora in America.

The result:
Participants report deep transformation in their attitudes toward one another and their understanding of what they can do to contribute to building peace. They are now actively engaged in concrete initiatives to contribute toward a better future for their people, including offering the same workshop in Sudan to people from every region.

While there is a massive amount of work that still needs to be done, we are confident that a key part of any solution is to educate and empower future leaders with the skills they need to promote peaceful solutions to this violent conflict.
