As the principal of one of Houston's leading public affairs firms, Mustafa Tameez has had a diverse career in public relations, ethnic marketing, advertising and political consulting. He serves as an advisor to Congressmen, state legislatures, mayors, federal agencies, national nonprofits, and corporations.
In the 2006 election cycle, Tameez played a pivotal role in recruiting and launching the winning congressional campaigns for Nick Lampson and Ciro D. Rodriguez, providing the first two-member increase in Texas' Democratic delegation in 14 years. In 2005, he served as the campaign manager to Mayor Bill White of Houston, whose 91% represents the highest vote share of any big city mayor in 25 years. In 2004, Tameez also engineered the upset victory of Hubert Vo, which was the first gain for Democrats in the Texas legislature in 32 years. His record of success and veteran leadership in media relations, political communications, and ethnic marketing put him on the vanguard of numerous corporate, political and grassroots arena. In February of 2005, Tameez was on Texas Monthly's short list for next year's "most powerful people in Texas" feature. He has also been profiled in the Houston Chronicle for his victories in the municipal referendums in 2006, as well as the Houston Press for his ethnic outreach efforts in the 2001 Houston mayoral race. As a marketing and PR executive, he has managed multi-million dollar advertising budgets, hired and trained elite sales teams, and has earned a reputation as a pioneer in modern ethnic outreach and issue advocacy. Tameez is also a community leader with a track record of promoting civic engagement. He served on the board of directors for the Houston Zoo, as well as the public access channel Houston Media Source, and currently serves on the board of Houston 80 – 20 PAC, the South Asian Chamber of Commerce, and the ILM Academy Board. |
